In this digital era everything is growing very fast and every day we get to see new and latest technologies coming up. Which ever field you choose without latest technology it becomes very difficult to outperform in that field.
Nowadays consumer electronics market has became a very competitive market, consumers (Particularly Indian’s) are focusing on cheap but feature rich and reliable product whether it is a mobile , computer, DSLR or a laptop, every now and then new companies are coming up with their products which are more feature rich and also cheaper than many other popular brands in the market. ASUS is one of those company who is not only popular but also giving a tough competition to other brands in the consumer market in terms of quality, feature and of course most importantly price and today I will be discussing of one such product manufactured by them. ASUS is committed to innovation and quality and their commitment gave birth to the ASUS Vivobook S series laptops.
Today I will be discussing about the new ASUS Vivobook S406 laptop and will also tell you how it will influence your as well as my life after upgrading it from an old laptop. Currently I am using a very basic laptop for my productive work its DELL 1015 which is almost 7 years old. So to compete with the current digital world this laptop is a viable alternative to my ageing DELL laptop. I will compare it with my old laptop so that you can see the result, before that let me share my area of interest. I love travelling and photography also I share my experiences by publishing travel blog. I love to capture the moments in my camera.
Now coming to the main tropic how this upgrade will benefit my life or a performers life?
First and foremost every traveller like is Portability of the product.
Now coming to its Design.
First and foremost every traveller like is Portability of the product.
ASUS Vivobook S406 is a 14 inch thin and light laptop with just 14.8 mm design profile with an overall weight of just 1.2 kg, thus it makes this laptop ultra portable and help to carry long distance nestled inside the bag.
Nowadays everything should be presentable what if its a laptop. ASUS Vivobook S 406 looks like an ultrabook and its design has been inspired from the ASUS famous Zenbook series. It comes with two colour options gold and grey. It have a spun metal finish lid which is very sturdy. Also it colours are all over its body and this makes it look so beautiful and different from others.
After its beauty lets talk about is features and in this section it scores pretty well.
The Display
A good display always plays an important role in the life of every user specially creators who do a lots of photography and video editing stuff like me because in digital media perfection plays an very important role. In this scenario this laptop have the most promising display. It is an edge to edge display with an 8.5mm bezels entail in a 78.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It have ASUS best in class Full-HD IPS panel with anti-glare in which colours looks vibrant and brightness levels are also good also it is equipped with true2Life technology which enhances the clarity and vividness.
The Performance
The Battery
So here are they.
ASUS have not compromised on their display and so as true regarding the the core hardware of this laptop. This laptop comes in two variants the base variant is powered up with 7th Gen Intel Core i3-7100U Processor which cost around Rs 59990 and the top variant rocks a 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U priced around Rs 69990 both of these comes with Windows 10 preloaded, 256GB SSD and 8GB of DDR4 ram also both of these are powered by Intel HD graphics 620. Now if I consider the base variant then also it can run the latest graphics and video editing software very smoothly though there will be a performance difference between these two variant but one can easily execute their task smoothly atleast I can, not only that the base variant is capable of multitasking too and for content creators this laptop will be a boon.
This one is the most important thing for a portable device without this the device is useless. Who doesn’t want a great battery backup with quick charge. Until now this technology is limited to smartphones only but ASUS who always search for incredible things has found a way to implement it on the laptop too and ASUS Vivobook S406 is integrated with that. It is equipped with a two cell 39 Whrs polymer battery with ASUS own invented super battery with fast charging technologies. Which not only charge up the battery from 0-60% in just 49 mins but also give the battery a 3 times longer lifespan.
Security
IMG- ASUS Website |
This is very much important in today's world and ASUS have done a pretty good work in this field. This laptop is integrated with a fingerprint sensor at the top right corner of the laptop trackpad which supports Windows 10 Hello feature. Previously I used to access a locked laptop using password but after this feature I can access this laptop very easily even without a password, by just touching the fingerprint sensor it instantly unlocks. Thus it increases the security as well as privacy of the laptop. This extra security measure taken by ASUS ensure that no one other than me can access this laptop.
Till now I have talked about the key points which every buyer see before buying a laptop and also my reason behind upgrading to this laptop but ASUS have decided to include something interesting for their buyers.
So here are they.
- Ergonomic backlit keyboard which helps to do the work in any environment(day/night) and to top-up this they have also included a high precision touchpad to improve the overall accuracy.
- Better connectivity by including a range of useful ports USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.1, USB 2.0, Micro HDMI and Micro SD card
- ASUS Ice cool technology cools the system intelligently so that there is no performance drop.
- ASUS Sonicmaster a combination of hardware and software for clear and immersive audio experience.
- A good quality HD webcam.
About My Laptop
As I have said in the beginning I have an DELL 1015 laptop which is pretty old basically it an 15 inch and 38 mm in design profile with an overall weight of 2.3 kgs housed in a full plastic body (already got wear and tear and somehow I kept it intact ) with unequal colour combination the lid is of pink and rest of the body is black which looks so ugly.
It have an old LCD display panel with huge bezels which lacks Full-HD and vibrant colours.
Beside this the main reason for upgrading is the outdated hardware. It is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB of DDR2 ram, 320GB mechanical hard drive and integrated graphics it can’t handle google chrome properly it lags here and there also there is no question of running popular editing software smoothly though it is good for small work like word processing, blog writing(which you are currently reading. ), email checking etc. Also its battery backup is very pour it can hardly survive for an hour without connecting the charger and it is very difficult for me to do my work while I am travelling.
It lacks in advance security features like fingerprint sensor also it doesn't have latest connectivity in terms of ports (USB 2.0, VGA and Ethernet) and wireless, this makes pretty difficult to access large data and nowadays graphics related content generate a huge data. It also lacks in audio quality, heat management and webcam.
So I have shared my reason behind the upgrade and how this upgrade will benefit my life and a performers life too.
What you are waiting for upgrade now and share your experiences too.
